About the role

There are two full-time fixed term contract (FTC) posts for 3 years, subject to review.

If appointed to this role, you will be responsible to the Working Trades & Services Supervisor (Fabric) or another appropriate officer, and work alongside qualified craft personnel to observe and absorb the various processes and practices associated with the relevant trade, and apply this knowledge to undertake relevant painting and decorating work within the Property Maintenance Operation, either individually or as part of a team.

About the department

The Property and Projects Department oversees the council’s capital investment programmes, which include more than 200 live projects valued at over £200 million. Key responsibilities include:

  • Property Maintenance Unit – Ensuring council buildings remain legally compliant, safe, and fit for purpose.

  • Project Management Unit – Operating the Portfolio Office, ensuring the effective delivery of capital projects.
  • Estates Management Unit – Managing council land, property assets, and investment portfolios, supporting urban regeneration.
  • Programme Delivery Unit – Leading the design, construction, and delivery of physical regeneration projects.

This department plays a pivotal role in shaping Belfast’s built environment, ensuring council assets are strategically developed and maintained to support the city’s growth.
