Industrial Placement - Estates Management

You will be responsible for assisting with estate management duties, including the management of the council's industrial estates at Balmoral and Duncrue; the Gasworks Site and other land or property holdings that are the responsibility of the Property and Projects Department. This includes requests for subletting, assignment and building works, and assessment and apportionment of service charges.

The Property and Projects Department oversees the council’s capital investment programmes, which include more than 200 live projects valued at over £200 million. Key responsibilities include:

• Project Management Unit – Operating the Portfolio Office, ensuring the effective delivery of capital projects.

• Estates Management Unit – Managing council land, property assets, and investment portfolios, supporting urban regeneration.

• Programme Delivery Unit – Leading the design, construction, and delivery of physical regeneration projects.

• Property Maintenance Unit – Ensuring council buildings remain legally compliant, safe, and fit for purpose.

This department plays a pivotal role in shaping Belfast’s built environment, ensuring council assets are strategically developed and maintained to support the city’s growth.
